Nola for personal letter

Dear HTAP Friend,

This will be a short newsletter, focusing on a fabulous Train the Trainer we held in Milwaukee at the Neu-Life Community Center and sponsored by the Zonta Club of Milwaukee.
We will be issuing another newsletter after the Bling Bash to announce our summer camp schedule of ARTREACH programs, our trainings for Point of Contact, Point of Rescue and other activities, but right now we want to be sure you come to the Bling Bash.
There will also be a report on the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women Conference which I attended in the next newsletter.

Sincerely,
Nola Theiss
Executive Director

Bling Bash is just about here:
April 5, 3 to 6 pm.
The jewelry has been collected and tagged, the Silent and Live Auction items packaged, yet the surprises keep coming. A world award winning designer, Mark Loren, created a special piece for our Live Auction worth $895 with a 7.2 carat blue topaz, gold, and diamonds, Bradley Jewelers donated a $500 custom jewelry design certificate, Luc Century donated an original etched bowl, and Mary Anne and Joe Blanda gave a combination fishing tour, beauty treatment basket and those are just a few of the prizes.

Here is a sneak peek of part of the Mark Loren design:

Over 1000 pieces of previously loved jewelry will be available, ranging in price from $2. to $300., thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors.

We will be presenting the "2014 Human Trafficking Awareness Partner Award" to Yaro Garcia, Head Clinician of the Abuse, Counseling, Treatment Center for her work as the President of the SWFL Regional Human Trafficking Coalition and her treatment of victims of human trafficking.

This year the suggested admission donation is $20. which entitles you to raffle tickets and participation in some special events, but everyone is welcome to shop and attend at no charge.

All donations will be used for HTAP's prevention and outreach programs.

If you can't make the Bling, you can make a donation using Paypal below or send a check. Thank you!!

We Probably Should Wait til the Next Newsletter, but

We Want You to Know Now About a Fabulous ARTREACH Train the Trainer Program Just Held n Milwaukee!

Nola Theiss had the pleasure of working with the Zonta Club of Milwaukee and the staff of the Neu-Life Community Center on March 20 and 21.  A 2.5 hour workshop on prevention/awareness programs was held, including the TIPS program on the evening of the 20th, attended by Zonta and community members and alumni and staff from the Neu-Life Center.

On the 21st, an all day simulation and explanation of the ARTREACH program was held for 12 staff and Zonta members and 2 large paintings were created.  One group wanted to show the connection of Milwaukee to trafficking and used a local logo with a hidden meaning. The other group wanted to show a puppetmaster, who was actually controlled by another  to show what is going on right in front of the rest of society.

The level of artistic ability in this group was phenomenal and the intensity of their work astonishing. They plan on using the ARTREACH program throughout their community work which already emphasizes art as a means of expression and as an agent of social change.

We will be holding another Train the Trainer program on April 19 in Ft. Myers at the offices of HTAP for local groups. If you are interested in attending, there is no cost and anyone is welcome. (We had someone from Massachusetts come to the training in Savannah this summer so consider a trip to sunny Florida in a couple of weeks.)
