Practicing mindfulness means connecting directly with what's happening in the moment, as best we can, without the filter or "overlay" of mental commentary (the "chattering mind").
As we practice connecting with the sensations of the body and the breath, and simply observing the activity of the busy mind without judgment, moment to moment, we can drop into the direct experience or "felt sense" of being alive.
