Baddha Konasana (Cobbler's Pose)

Baddha Konasana is nicknamed Cobler's Pose after the position in which Indian cobblers sat to work on shoes. Cobbler's Pose is a great stretch for the hips and inner thighs. It can help eliminate / prevent low back pain and sciatica. Beginner's Tip: Lift and lengthen the spine. Place support under each knee, such as a rolled up blanket, until you feel a comfortable stretch in the inner thighs. Over time, gradually lower/remove the support as the inner thigh muscles lengthen.

I never imagined how much work (and patience) are needed to complete a renovation project! But, it's done and we're in! The Fall MBSR classes are under way and nearing the half-way mark. What a joy to work with people so dedicated to self-awareness, transformation and trying

I'm excited to introduce a new MBSR teacher at Integrative Mindfulness: Anne Kracmer, MSW, LCSW. Anne has been my friend and colleague for several years. She is a well trained and dedicated mindfulness practitioner and a delightful person! Anne will teach the Friday morning MBSR class series beginning January 17th.

I've been sampling a variety of classes around Southwest Florida looking to invite the best yoga and movement arts teachers to bring their talents and passion to Integrative Mindfulness. Lots in the works. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements. If you or someone you know might be a good fit in this regard, please forward this newsletter to them. Full details can be found here.

Introducing . . . .
Anne Kracmer MSW, LCSW - Mindfulness Teacher

Anne Kracmer MSW, LCSW

Integrative Mindfulness welcomes a new teacher of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. Anne Kracmer will lead the Friday morning MBSR class beginning in January. Anne brings a wealth of training and practice with her. She holds a Masters degree in Social Work from Florida Gulf Coast University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her interest in mindfulness began in 2007 during her graduate work when she participated in an MBSR program and first experienced the many benefits of a personal mindfulness practice.

Since then, she completed two levels of foundational training in MBSR at the Center for Mindfulness at UMass and embarked on the path of teaching mindfulness. Anne continues a daily practice of mindfulness meditation and regularly participates in several mindfulness retreats each year. She is grateful for the opportunity to share the benefits she has personally experienced as a result of her practice of mindfulness.

40th Anniversary of "Earthrise"

Do you remember your experience when you first saw this photo? What is your experience as you look at it now? For me, the photo had a profoundly spiritual impact that continues today. On the 40th Anniversary of the famous 'Blue Marble' photograph taken of Earth from space, Planetary Collective presents a short film documenting astronauts' life-changing stories of seeing the Earth from the outside - a perspective-altering experience often described as the Overview Effect.
