Greetings!

Happy November! Fall Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes are under way. Two groups of friendly and hard-working people are dedicating these 8 weeks to transforming their lives through a regular practice of mindfulness. I marvel at the richness, warmth, and whole-heartedness they bring to each class. The Winter, 2013 MBSR series begins the 3rd week in January. As always, evening and morning classes will be offered. Be sure to register well in advance if you think January may be the right time for you to begin your mindfulness journey.

Two new items of note: The Brooks Commons Club, whose management team recently completed mindfulness and leadership training with Integrative Mindfulness, is making possible a free outdoor Guided Mindfulness Practice on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 under their beautiful outdoor Pavilion. See the article in this issue for details.

Also, a new 5 class series for MBSR graduates will begin this Friday at 3:30. We'll be learning a simple flowing yoga sequence known as "Surya Namaskar A" or "Sun Salutations A" followed by, of course, guided mindfulness practice. Please register in advance and get your mind & body focused and calm for the holidays.  If you're just returning to Southwest Florida, please stop by and see our beautiful new practice space at 26721 Dublin Woods Circle #2 in Bonita which we're fortunate to share with my colleague, Acupuncture Physician and Qigong teacher Walter Hayley, of Dragon's Gate, Inc. The serene, healing energy of this special place is apparent as soon as you enter. Do come check it out.

Zen for Ten is in this issue.  Keep practicing! The journey is the destination.  Much love!

 When:

Fridays, 3:30 - 4:30 pm (Nov. 16-Dec. 21; No Class Thanksgiving week). (Note new start time of 3:30)

Practice Video: Working With the Inner Critic

One thing that often appears in learning to meditate is the voice of negativity and judgment. This is the voice that criticizes how we're practicing meditation, and feels that we're not "doing it right". If you've experienced the voice of the inner critic, you're not alone. Rest assured that practitioners through the ages have encountered the inner critic and developed approaches for working with, rather than against, this seeming obstacle to practice. This week's video includes a few suggestions for working with yours.
