WGA News
From cold and windy to muggy and windy to downright soaking wet and windy with possibility of floods-this is a typical Oklahoma Spring. It makes golfing not much fun; however, desperate women do desperate things. I am hoping June will provide nice Tuesdays for everyone.....because we are ramped up and ready to go.
Thanks to all of you who helped with the WOGA Team Cup Championship that was held here three weeks ago. I have received so many nice emails and cards from the participants saying what a beautiful facility, golf course and members we have at SCC. Others who helped were: Steve and Judy O'Neil, Dick and Carol Ann Powell, Tom and Carol Stewart, John and Blanche Hughes, John and Susan Blake, Jim Walsh, Diana Murphy and Ruth Walker. And...having any event without thanking Jared and his crew would be a huge misnomer. The course looked great!
The Women's Association looks forward to helping with Blackjack again. We will be registering the players, witnessing a hole-in-one (we hope) on #9 and having our closet-to-the pin contest each day. We will be awarding $500 cash to the winner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Hope you men will enter our contest!
The evening women's group just keeps growing. Just last week three new players have said they would like to join the group. That brings the total to 40 or more. We are going to have lots of fund, so don't be scared that you are behind...there isn't such a thing. See you on the course.

From Your Board of Directors
Greetings from your board president, or should I say, your past board president, as you read this newsletter. As many of you may already know, the May 23 annual meeting was my last annual meeting as your board president. According to the SCC bylaws, and after election of board members at the annual meeting, the Board of Directors reconvenes and elects the officers for the coming year. At the board meeting, I resigned my position as President of the Board and nominated Steve Carpenter to assume the Office of President of the Board. He was unanimously elected by your Board of Directors and I agreed to stay on the board for the coming year.
I have truly enjoyed the past 3 1/2 years as President of your SCC Board of Directors and feels that we have accomplished many goals that I had set when I assumed the position mid-year 2010 from Robin Purdie. We have achieved so many wonderful improvements to your club over the past few years in spite of many financial and economic hurdles to overcome. Your club, I can honestly tell you, is in better financial condition today than it has been in many, many years, and our future is so very bright with the new clubhouse and all its amenities as well as the increased number of new young families joining the club. This is not the end of my service to SCC, but rather a new beginning for Steve to continue on with your same wonderful Board of Directors, plus the addition of Scott Hughes to fill the vacancy of Bob McCracken, who served the maximum of 6 years on your Board of Directors. Thank you so much Bob, we will miss your input on the board. Also, I would be very remiss to not thank Chuck and Patty, Dawn. and Jared for their unwavering support the last 3 1/2 years, and also note that they are the heart and soul of SCC and they have worked tirelessly to make these changes and improvements happen.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank so many of you who supported me, as well as the board, through all of our trials and tribulations with our vision, our financial reorganization, and renovation plans. I think everyone would agree- we are now in a position to insure the livelihood of Stillwater Country Club for many years to come.
See you at the club,
Dr. Tom R. Stewart

From Your GM
At the time of this newsletter, we are busy preparing for The Blackjack-our showcase event. For the first time since I've been here , it is full. Outstanding food, entertainment, and golf are to be enjoyed by all.
Thank you to all that attended the annual member meeting. At that meeting, Scott Hughes was elected to the Board of Directors, taking the place of Bob McCracken. Scott is already busy serving the club, as he serves as chair for the MGA and also headed up the Blackjack Committee. After the member meeting the board elected Steve Carpenter to be president. Many thanks to our outgoing president, Dr. Tom Stewart for his outstanding leadership in seeing us through these past critical years of change at SCC. And, thank you to the membership of SCC, by supporting the club and hanging in there through the construction process to bring us to this point of new beginnings.
The malfunctioning filter and broken pipe at the pool have now been fixed, and we look forward to fun around the pool this summer. Everything seems to happen on the holidays when no parts are available.
See you at the club,
Chuck Coatney

From the Pro
Now that warmer weather finally arrived, so have the rains. It seems that we are having a tough time getting the season going. But on those pretty days, we are busier than ever. Please call for tee times so we can be ready for you when you arrive. Congratulations to our own Gabbi Shelton, who just after the United Way tournament finished, made a hole-in-one, which if had been made during the tournament, would have won her a new car. Timing is everything!
In our Memorial Weekend tournament we had a tie between the teams of Jim Lee and Bob McCormick, and Steve Flaming and Jeff Naples. The city wide 3 Amigos United Way tournament was won by Scott Hughes and Nick Hughes. Congratulations to all!
Chuck
