Ambassadors Group

Do you like to meet new people?  Would you be interested in helping to welcome new members to our club?

Stillwater Country Club is looking to form an ambassadors group,  we would like to make sure that new members are greeted and welcomed into our club.  Some of these people are well known in the community,  but sometimes they are new to the community.  Either way we want to know they are a welcomed part of our group. So if you would like to meet some new friends over dinner,  pick up some new players for your tennis game,  or even hunt for the new golf partner this committee is for you.

Contact Collett Campbell at collettcped@gmail.com to let me know you are interested.

With the great things Stillwater Country Club has to offer,  we want to see if you will help us share the news.

WGA News

The Stillwater Country Club Women's Golf Association is announcing the addition of a nine-hole Tuesday evening group this year.  Play will be strictly for fun.  Chuck, Trent and Patty are meeting with the group Tuesday evenings free of charge so that women who have never played are introduced to the game of golf.  Between 30 and 40 women have signed up and are having a blast!  If you are interested, it is not too late.  Child care will be available for a minimal charge.  Please notify the club in advance if you would like to use this service.

Golf for the Tuesday morning group will start on March 5.  All women who would like to play should be at the clubhouse at 9:30am.  The first SCCWGA meeting will be held on Tuesday March 12 at 9:00am in the clubhouse.  A budget will be presented at the meeting for approval at the April meeting.  All morning and evening SCCWGA members are invited to attend.

On Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14, SCC will host the Women's Oklahoma Golf Association Team Championship. Teams of four women each from clubs all over the state will be competing to win the cup from the 2012 winner, Muskogee Country Club.   Stillwater Country Club will have a team in the tournament. If you would be willing to be a ball spotter, help load and unload women's golf bags and/or shuttle to the driving range and back, please contact Ann Watkins.

Tuesdays are women's golf days. Hope many of you will sign up to join us this year...or, you are just unable to play golf and would like a fun social hour, we will see you Tuesday evening.  Come hang out with us!!!
From Your Board of Directors

Greetings from your Board of Directors,

Hopefully by now, our entire membership has had the opportunity to experience our new clubhouse facilities.  It truly is a vast improvement over the old clubhouse and seems well worth the inconveniences we went through while we continuted to keep the clubhouse open and available for our membership during the construction process.

As you read this newsletter, the renovations to the east banquet room should be completed in the next couple of weeks.  It will have a vaulted beamed ceiling, carpet, paint and trim similiar to the rest of the clubhouse.  This will allow us to keep the mixed grill area open for our membership during all but very large events requiring the entire clubhouse facilities.

Also, a reminder, that this month we will begin posting past due accounts in the new clubhouse.

Membership numbers are increasing and as you read this newsletter we should be approaching the April 30 projections that were forecast in our fundraising and construction plans almost 2 years ago.  Thanks so much to our members who have participated in the fundraising effors allowing us to complete many of the furnishings and amenities that were not included in our original assessment and lending projections. With the advent or more consistent spring weather, the new patio furnishings and the firepit will be ready for your enjoyment.

Also, Kudos to our members who have recruited new member families and requests to our membership to bring their friends and neighbors out to experience our new clubhouse faciliites and all that we now have to offer.

See you at the club,

Your Stillwater Country Club Board of Directors

From Your GM

I am very happy to say our membership is now moving upward and is picking up pace.  Thanks to all those who brought prospective members to our free buffets last weekend.  We have already welcomed one of those guests as a new member and are hopeful for several others.  As a further incentive, each new member couple as well as their primary sponsors will be invited to a complimentary dinner as a thank you and welcome to the club.

Look for another prospective member event later this month.

Gourmet dinners return this month, as well as our Easter weekend events.  Saturday we see our Easter egg hunt, bounce house, cooking decoration and our petting zoo, followed by our delicious Easter buffet on Easter Sunday.  Be sure to make your reservations early!

See you at the club,

 Chuck Coatney

From the Pro

The tournament schedule is finalized an you will find it online or stop by the pro shop for a copy.  Our 1st event will be an MGA Earlybird on Saturday March 23rd with a meeting preceding golf.  This year we will be holding the Team Fourball in the spring to hopefully make it easier to schedule matches.  That will begin April 6, so be sure to sign up for both of those events.  We are also planning this year's Blackjack and it is going to be better than ever.  People are signing up now and in order to assure yourself of getting your invitation, be sure and call the pro shop.

Congratulations to Rathin Sarathy who shot a career best at 69.  The rest of us are waiting on warmer weather.

Please observe the green and red tipped stakes.  Many people are complaining about lack of respect for the course and we may have to resort to ropes if this doesn't work.
