Greetings!

Welcome to this month's TDE email newsletter. In this issue, we share our new contest with you! Imagine a relaxing weekend at the beach, pampering at the spa, and enjoying a beautiful sunset....aaahhh.

If you've been in recently or are scheduled to visit our office you will see a couple of new faces. Tanya Drummond Moore joined our hygiene team in November and Tonya Jones just started with us in February as a Phone Call Coordinator. Join us in welcoming them to our family:)

Have a Great March! Luck of the Irish to you...

We're On Your Side! Win a Weekend at Clearwater Beach!

Dr. Chuck Tavares Dentist

Wouldn't you like to watch the sun set over the Gulf of Mexico while sitting on your balcony overlooking the beach, relaxing after your massage, and enjoying your favorite beverage as the sun slowly disappears in the horizon?

Sound good to you? It could be your weekend! I strongly believe that keeping your mouth clean and healthy will not only help your smile, your breath, your ability to enjoy food, and the way you speak, but it will also help your entire body! How can I motivate you to keep your mouth "squeaky clean." Maybe if I BRIBE You?

This is a shameless bribe. For all existing patients, and all new patients, when you come to our office for a new patient or recall exam and your mouth is completely healthy (no cavities, broken teeth, gum disease, etc.) your name will be entered in a drawing to be held at the end of June. You also get some spending money!

Why is this so important? For some of you, it could literally be the difference between life and death. It's already been proven that the bacteria in your mouth go directly into your blood stream if you have gum disease or other dental infections. These are the bacteria that can damage your heart, cause strokes, create aneurysms, infect artificial or natural joints, affect Alzheimer's disease and even arthritis.

If we can bribe you and can help save even one heart valve, stroke, or other complication for our patients, the contest will be a success.

Not to mention the beautiful view and time one of our patients will enjoy at Clearwater Beach.

In the Interest of Better Dental and Systemic Health,

"Why is the Hygienist Recommending Arestin® and What is It Anyway?"

Some of our patients are at risk of developing or already have developed periodontal disease, commonly referred to as a gum infection. Our hygienists recommend adding Arestin® to traditional treatment to combat infection.

Arestin® is a locally administered antibiotic that is placed directly in the infected areas or "pockets" in your gums. It's applied after "scaling and root planning" or, in other words, disinfection of the gums by your hygienist. This is how Arestin® works. The antibiotic has tiny microspheres that are time released over 21 days killing the bacteria that causes periodontal infection, inflammation, and bleeding.

   Using Arestin® offers a patient a non-surgical

approach to treating a chronic infection. It can reduce the overall financial investment to treat the progression of periodontal disease - infection of the gums. It practically eliminates bleeding.

We've been using Arestin® in the office for over three years and have found it to work well with most patients. Occasionally, when a pocket doesn't respond, a referral to a local periodontist is indicated.

If you've been battling gum disease, ask your hygienist if Arestin® is right for you.
