It hasn't felt much like spring time during the last few weeks, but our calendar indicates it is! Despite the gray skies and seemingly endless rain, our campuses are in bloom and students are starting to make their summer plans. We had a wildly successful student competition season. Adding to the options for full-time high school programs offered by MCTS, we're extremely excited to welcome our first class of 9th graders to the Academy of Culinary Arts this September. Teachers Honored for Excellence

The Mercer County Technical School District is pleased to announce Sam Bell of Willingboro, New Jersey and Tom O'Brien ofSouthampton, New Jersey, as honorees of the 2015-2016 Governor's Teacher Recognition Program. In addition, Dave Nash of Princeton Junction, District CEC/Co-Op Coordinator, was recognized as an outstanding educational services professional. Learn more.

HSA Senior Named Finalist in US Presidential Scholars Program
|
Tanishq Sai Goribidanur of Hamilton, a graduating senior at Mercer County Technical Schools' Health Science Academy, has been named one of 689 semifinalists in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The semifinalists were selected from nearly 4,700 candidates expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in 2016. Read more.

SkillsUSA & Ryder Diesel Scholarship Winner
|
Congratulations to Thomas Distelcamp of Hightstown on being selected to receive a 2016 SkillsUSA and Ryder Diesel Scholarship! This scholarship was established through a partnership with Ryder System, Inc., to recognize outstanding SkillsUSA members who are continuing their education in Diesel Equipment Technology. Thomas has been awarded a one-time $1,000 scholarship toward college/postsecondary training.

Nash Wins Region I Advisor of the Year
|
Mr. Nash, SLE Coordinator, has been selected as the SkillsUSA Region I Advisor of the Year! Mr. Nash was selected based on his dedication to the organization and his many accomplishments as a career and technical education instructor. Mr. Nash will be recognized at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky this June.

HSA Senior Wins NJPSA Scholarship
|
Aparna Naik of Pennington, was one of 25 high school seniors selected to receive the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association's (NJPSA) Student Leadership Scholarship. Aparna earned the award for her work as a student leader in the Health Science Academy. Aparna and Ms. Benoit, Assunpink Center Supervisor, attended a luncheon at NJPSA earlier this month where awards were distributed.

Students Attend PPPL Young Women's Conference in STEM
|
STEM Academy and Health Science Academy 9th grade girls attended the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory's Young Women's Conference in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at Princeton University's Frick Chemistry Laboratory to learn about how fun and fulfilling science can be through a myriad of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and talks by female scientists.
