GREETINGS FROM

DR. KIMBERLY J. SCHNEIDER, SUPERINTENDENT

Schneider Headshot

With construction nearly complete in early September, we welcomed our students with a stunning new front to the "A" Building entry on the first day of school at Sypek and Assunpink. Click here to check out the photo gallery on our website.

With a 15% increase in shared-time high school enrollment, we can see the demand for career and technical education programs steadily increasing.  We're continuing to work closely with our sending schools districts, business partners and postsecondary partners to educate and prepare Mercer County's workforce of the future.

Students Sell Pink
Hair Extensions for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Sypek Cosmetology students completed a successful pink hair extension fundraiser in honor of breast cancer awareness month.  The students sold and installed pink hair extensions for $5 each.  Since the hair extensions were donated by Academy Pro Hair, all of the funds from the sale will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  In preparation for the fundraiser, a few students completed a 6-hour hair extension certification program.  This month-long fundraiser raised $284 this year.

The "Planks"giving Challenge

During the month of November, Mr. Baldino (Physical Education/Health instructor) organized a fitness challenge for interested students and staff.  The purpose of the challenge was to motivate the school community to take a more proactive approach to their health and fitness. The goal of the "Planks"giving Challenge is help develop core/ abdominal strength by introducing the plank exercise.  The plank is an isometric core strength exercise that involves maintaining a difficult position for extended periods of time.
