As Israeli and Palestinian delegations head to Cairo for long-term truce talks we commend the courage of Israeli soldiers who have fought to keep Israel safe. We are grateful for our friends in the US and around the world who have helped carry us through this challenging time. We ask for your continued support for Israel and prayers for peace. I appeal to you to come to Israel as a means to share your love for Jesus with the Israeli people. They need to know that you stand with them and that they are not alone.
Next month is the Jewish New Year or Rosh Hashanah which literally means "head of the year." In the Bible it is referred to as Yom-Teruah - the day of the sounding of the shofar. You can read about it in the book of Leviticus, chapter 23. The common greeting in Hebrew during this festival is "L'shanah tovah" or just "Shana Tova" for short, which means "may you be inscribed and sealed for a good year."

Rare Cache of Coins Found Dating to Late Second Temple Period
Photo: Vladimir Niihin, Israel Antiquities Authority.
According to the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) pottery shards discovered several months ago during the Highway 1 project (main road between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem) led to an archaeological dig which resulted in the discovery of an ancient hoard of bronze coins, 114 total, dating to the 4th year of the Great Revolt against the Romans. The Revolt ended with the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Second Temple.
