Israeli Researchers Discover Fabrics with Biblical Dye
Researchers from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) have uncovered 3 rare fabrics dating to the Roman-era, over 2000 years ago. The textiles are believed to have been dyed using murex snail extracts in unique colors mentioned in the Bible.
In a statement issued by the IAA, the fabrics, identified by Dr. Na'ama Sukenik, represent the most prestigious colors in antiquity; indigo, purple and crimson, which are mentioned in Jewish sources. To read more about this interesting discovery click here.

Almond Tree Blossoms
In the Bible the almond, mentioned 10 times beginning in the book of Genesis, was a symbol of watchfulness and promise due to its early flowering. Seemingly magically, the first almond blossoms appear each year in Israel around Tu B'Shevat, the fifteenth of the Hebrew month of Shevat which marks the New Year for trees. It is celebrated this year on January 15-16.
