Dear Friend,
Season's Greetings! November was a lively month for us. We received numerous messages of prayers and well wishes during the recent Gaza conflict via phone, email and Facebook. We are grateful for the outpouring of support for both Coral Tours and for Israel. We had groups traveling with us during this tense time and everyone enjoyed their tours and arrived back in the US safe and sound in spite of the challenges in Israel's southern region. This week we welcomed several more groups to the Holy Land. Irit and I sincerely appreciate the level of trust our customers have demonstrated through this. It has been a real blessing.
Now we are looking forward to all that December has in store - the blessings and miracles represented during Hanukkah and Christmas. Roman Era Road Revealed At Bethsaida
Archaeologists have uncovered a paved road in use during the Roman era occupation at Bethsaida on the northeastern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Bethsaida, which literally means "House of Fishing", is recorded in the bible as the birthplace of the apostles Philip, Peter and Andrew and the place where Jesus fed the multitude (Luke 9:10-17) and restored sight to a blind man (Mark 8:22-26). According to the lead archaeologist at the site it is highly probable that Jesus and the apostles walked on this very road since it would have been very difficult for them to avoid.
The Bethsaida excavations have also revealed the remains of an Iron Age city buried beneath the Roman town, which is believed to have been the capital of the kingdom of Geshur, a kingdom mentioned in the Old Testament as closely allied to ancient Israel during the reigns of King David and Solomon. King David married Ma'achah, the daughter of the king of Geshur.
