Dear Friend,
It is summer time in Israel and with the warmer weather and children out of school we see families enjoying special time together. Favorite pastimes include camping and hiking in Northern Galilee and enjoying the beaches along the Mediterranean coast and down south in the resort city of Eilat. The Israel landscape is as diverse as the people who call Israel home.
Right now we are entering Israel's high travel season in July. So far this year, Christian travel to Israel continues to outpace itself over last year. The people of Israel are so blessed to have such ardent supporters. We are grateful to be a small part of this trend as we continue our ministry of assisting believers in making this amazing journey.
Coral Travel & Tours wishes all our American friends and acquaintances the very best as they celebrate America's independence with family and friends this July 4th. May God richly bless our friend and ally, the USA!
We look forward to welcoming you to Israel as you discover the roots of your Christian faith.
 God bless,
Shalom & Irit Almog

According to its website the Israel Museum is the largest cultural institution in the State of Israel and is ranked among the world's leading art and archaeology museums. Founded in 1965, the Museum houses encyclopedic collections, including works dating from prehistory to the present day, in its Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Jewish Art and Life Wings, and features the most extensive holdings of biblical and Holy Land archaeology in the world.
Among the museum's highlights is the Shrine of the Book which holds the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest biblical manuscripts in the world and considered by many to be the top biblical archaeological discovery of all time. Adjacent to the Shrine is the Model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple Period, which reconstructs the topography and architectural layout of the city as it was prior to its destruction by the Romans in 70 AD providing further context in which to view the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Other major archaeological discoveries relating to the bible on exhibit at the Israel Museum include the Pontius Pilate Inscription, the Crucified man, the House of David Inscription, the Caiaphas Ossuary and the Ketef Hinnom Silver Amulet Scroll.

 Tisha B'Av Fast
Tisha B'Av is an annual fast day in Judaism, named for the ninth day (Tisha) of the month of Av in the Hebrew Calendar. The fast commemorates the destruction of both the First and Second Temple in Jerusalem. Both of which occurred, about 656 years apart, on the same Hebrew calendar day. This is known as one of the saddest days in Jewish History. The Tisha B'Av fast day is similar to Yom Kippur except that the Tisha B'Av fast lasts about 24 hours beginning at sunset on the eve of Tisha B'Av and ending at nightfall the next day. The scroll of Eicha (Lamentations) is read in synagogue during evening services along with the Kinnot. This year Tisha B'Av begins on the evening of July 28th. |
2000-Year-Old Roman Coins - Jewelry Uncovered Near the Israeli town of Kiryat Gat south of Tel Aviv, a treasure trove of gold and silver coins and gold jewelry dating from the second century CE was uncovered. According the Israel Antiquity Authority's recent announcement the hoard, wrapped in a cloth, was discovered during the excavation of a Roman-era building in the area. The findings at the site include an earring and a ring made of gold, two silver sticks probably used to apply make-up, and 140 gold and silver coins bearing images of the Roman emperors Nero, Nerva and Trajan who ruled the Roman Empire from 54-117 AD. According to archaeologists, the artifacts also point towards their connection with the Jewish Bar Kokhba Revolt against Roman rule between 132-135 AD, and believe the cache was probably hidden by a wealthy family at the time of an impending danger during the revolt. |
