                                            Ending Hunger - One Step at A Time

                                              Sunday, September 30th - 2:00 p.m.

        This past year, caring people in some 2,000 U.S. communities joined together in 1,599 CROP Hunger Walks and other CROP events.  They raised $14.3 million to help end hunger at home and around the world.

        Would you like to participate in this year's CROP Walk?  The youth have set a goal of $1,500 to raise for this year's walk.

        If you would like to walk, contact the church office.  If you would like to pledge, please contact one of our mid high or Sr high youth, or our Youth Director, Jessica Coen.

        Help us build a world where there is enough for all!

        25% of the total Crop Walk income will go to Hope House.

                                                       WORSHIP IN THE PARK

88 people braved the rainy day and threatening sky to enjoy worship in the park on Sunday, August 26th.  We enjoyed a meaningful worship service in a very beautiful setting followed by fun games and a cookout.  Thanks to the many people worked hard to make this a great day:

--Dalen, Braedon, and Chris Brewer; Kenny Suffron, Dale Fox, Tim Soule, Gregg Colbern, Casey Colbern and Ed Taylor for helping load and unload the chairs and tables;

--Jim Pritchard, Kenny Suffron, Gregg Colbern, Ed Taylor -for using their trucks to transport the tables and chairs;

--Gregg Colbern for bringing his flatbed truck to the park;

--Bob and Kathy Reynolds for picking up the supplies at the church, and for their planning and organizing the event as well as picking up the cooker at the bank;

--Bob Reynolds for cooking all the meat;

--Bill and Stephanie Allegre, the fellowship committee, and the Christian Education Committee, for helping with the luncheon;

--Lisa Hornung, Wade and Jenise Hepner for leading the games;

--Dale Fox for picking up and setting up the sound system;

--Tim Soule for leading us in a great children's sermon and meaningful worship service.

--Everyone who came to the park for worship for braving the weather which held off until we were almost done eating.

                                                          HOW CAN YOU HELP??

          Seven years ago last week, Hurricane Katrina swept through the Gulf of Mexico, destroying homes, devastating the economy, and claiming the lives of many. Because of your generous gifts to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and One Great Hour of Sharing, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has truly been able to help these communities heal and rebuild from that disaster, as well as from the Gulf oil spill in 2010.

          Now communities like Plaquemines Parish, profoundly impacted by both Katrina and the oil spill, are in great need once again as a result of Hurricane Isaac. We respond in faith and affirmation that God's might is greater than any storm .

          Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) stands ready to immediately respond to needs identified by mid councils in the affected areas. Trained National Response Team members are being deployed to provide a ministry of presence and help with assessments and other identified needs. Cleanup buckets and Gift of the Heart kits are being assembled for the cleanup and recovery process. Your generosity will make a big difference in the effectiveness of our response.

          How You Can Help-you can place a contribution in the offering plate on Sunday marked for Hurricane Isaac and keep the people that have been effected by the storm in your prayers.
