Certification Survey Request
Certification is still relatively new to the GIS field especially when compared to other related fields such as IT, Planning, Tax Assessment, and others. Those related fields generally require some level of certification in order to move up the career ladder. Since the GISP certification was released in 2003, over 5,000 GIS Professionals have earned their GISP certification. The Esri Technical Certifications are even newer. Several other professional organizations such as ASPRS and IAAO have also developed GIS related certifications. This survey is an attempt to get some idea of how widely GIS certifications have been adopted and promoted within organizations that use GIS technology or services at any level. If you have not yet done so, please take the time to respond if you use GIS (even if it is not your primary job), oversee GIS staff hiring, help in the selection process of GIS Vendors or right GIS policies for your organization.
