TOPIC:
The Mara Salvatrucha, otherwise known as MS13 gang, is one of the most violent and dangerous gangs in the world. Their origins began in the 1980's in the neighbourhoods of Los Angeles. The gang's reach now extends throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South American. This vicious gang has now begun to establish themselves in Europe. MS13 is unique in that it retains its' strong ties to El Salvador's MS13 members.

MS13 uses a variety of crimes to make their way into neighbourhoods and use violence to take over these neighbourhoods. The gang has gradually turned to transnational crimes such as human smuggling and drug trafficking. In 2012, the US Government labelled the gang a "transnational criminal organization." This is the first such designation of a US street gang. MS13's influence and reputation for violence has grown over the years making them one of largest, most organized, gangs in the world.

Upon completion of this training, students will understand the following:

1. The history of the gang.
2. The identifiers of the gang.
