TOPIC: 
In an environment where instant gratification and pleasure rule, members of law enforcement must be vigilant in our thought process to avoid ethical destruction.  
 
Ultimate Ethics - In the Race of Life, Character is Destiny is designed to provoke critical thinking, provide practical application and encourage officers to live a life of character and integrity both professionally and personally.
 
Participants in this class will receive training in the following:   
  • Steps to critical thinking

  • Personal ethics v. professional ethics

  • Moral tactics and ethical survival for law enforcement

  • Steps to recognize and avoiding ethical destruction

  • The thin blue line of ethical behavior

  • Impact of choices

  • Tools and techniques to ensure an ethically sound department

Theodore Roosevelt stated, "To educate a person in mind and not in morals is to create a menace to society". Sergeant DeLap has a passion for sharing life experiences and encouraging fellow brothers and sisters in law enforcement to live a life of character. 
  
 
INSTRUCTOR: 
Sergeant Kris DeLap served as an Internal Affairs Investigator with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's Office of Professional Accountability . Sergeant DeLap has been with the Metropolitan Police Department for 20 years and has served as the Ethics Instructor for the department since 2007, teaching both In-Service veterans and Police Recruits. In addition, Sergeant Kris DeLap has taught Ethics to the military at Fort Campbell, KY and at local colleges in the Metro Nashville Area.
