Reading The Bible Narcissistically

We often read the Bible as if it were fundamentally about us: our improvement, our life, our triumph, our victory, our faith, our holiness, our godliness. We treat it like a book of timeless principles that will give us our best life now if we simply apply those principles. We treat it, in other words, like it's a heaven-sent self-help manual. But by looking at the Bible as if it were fundamentally about us, we totally miss the Point-like the two on the road to Emmaus.

Meal For Fredericksburg's Homeless
Serving w/ New Generation Outreach this Sunday - 6/16

New Generation is a local ministry in downtown Fredericksburg that ministers to the homeless street population, including providing a meal every Sunday afternoon followed by a Worship Service.   
  
Contact Dean Northcutt by ermail if you are available to help serve or clean up.

Meals are served from 3-4 PM with most of the volunteers needed a bit before 3 through clean up at about 4:30.  We need at least six people, preferrably 10, to meet this need.  This would be a 2 hour commitment on site.  Food preparation is separate. 

 Summer Interns with Trinity Christian Community in NOLA

Robbie Brauning and (young!) Will Dargan have arrived in New Orleans to serve with Trinity Christian Community as summer service interns for the month of June. They will be supervising groups of volunteers that come for a week much like our own NOLA Mission trips. With their experience in clearing abandoned lots, the ministry of TCC and the neighborhood of Hollygrove, they will be able to help groups get oriented and productive as well as find the nearest Sno-Ball stand! Watch for updates on the Christ Covenant FaceBook page. You can support their work with your prayers and donations to help underwrite costs to Christ Covenant with "TCC" in the memo field.
