"Porn now affects virtually everyone's relationships, even if neither partner actively spends time with it. How so? . . . ."
Dr. Mark Regnerus, Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas is one of a number of social researchers who have begun to identify and measure the sudden and extraordinary impact of pornography on life in the United States.
Click Here for the entire post by Pastor Bill. It includes informative links to other blog postings, research and an informative video TED Talk on brain chemistry and connection changes induced by internet porn . It's like ther traffic report for the morning commute: You need to know this information, even if it's not exactly good news.

Meal For Fredericksburg's Homeless
Serving with New Generation Outreach on June 16 Click Here To Help With Donation or Preparation
New Generation is a local ministry in downtown Fredericksburg that ministers to the homeless street population, including providing a meal every Sunday afternoon followed by a Worship Service. Christ Covenant would like to help with a meal on 16 June 2013. We need to provide: 1) A hearty meal for 125 people (think a "Bob Evans" type food); 2) A sack lunch (PBJs, fruit, chips, water) for 25 people; 3) Volunteers to prepare the venue (Mars Hill on Princess Anne St.), prepare plates, serve meals, and clean up afterwards. Meals are served from 3-4 PM with most of the volunteers needed a bit before 3 through clean up at about 4:30. We need at least six people, preferrably 10, to meet this need. This would be a 2 hour commitment on site. Food preparation is separate. Click Here for an online sign-up form. Lots of different ways you can be of help!

| | Summer Interns with Trinity Christian Community in NOLA | This weekend Robbie Brauning and (young!) Will Dargan will be heading to New Orleans to serve with Trinity Christian Community as summer service interns for the month of June. They will be supervising groups of volunteers that come for a week much like our own NOLA Mission trips. With their experience in clearing abandoned lots, the ministry of TCC and the neighborhood of Hollygrove, they will be able to help groups get oriented and productive as well as find the nearest Sno-Ball stand! Watch for updates on the Christ Covenant FaceBook page. You can support their work with your prayers and donations to help underwrite costs to Christ Covenant with "TCC" in the memo field. |
