Traffic Changes on Plank Road
If you are driving west - from I-95 - on Plank Rd to Christ Covenant, you will find a new traffic pattern for entering the Kilarney Shopping Center where Christ Covenant is located. You can no longer cross Plank on Kilarney Dr. Instead, there are two options:
1) Proceed to light at Old Plank and make a U-Turn to come back to our location.
2) One block before Kilarney Dr there is a new traffic light that turns left onto Chancellor Village Lane. Cross Plank Rd there, proceed one block and then turn right onto newly paved Health Center Ln. Proceed one block to Kilarney Dr at back of Kilarney shopping center.

Month of March 2013 (Numbers Rounded)
Income: $13,150
Expenses: $13,550
January Thru March 2013 (Numbers Rounded)
Income: $34,500
Expenses: $40,260
Next Step Balance: $14,800
As you can see, we have accumulated a deficit of income to expenses in the first three months of 2013. Though we are able to cover this with previously accumulated reserves, the Steering Committee has carefully reviewed our expenses and will continue to monitor both income and expenses in the coming months in order to keep finances balanced. A number of one-time expenses - NOLA Mission trip, Outreach mailing - and commitments that can be modified - our increased savings to the Next Step Fund - along with general economic pressure seem to be at the root of this situation. The ongoing support, prayer and commitment of the body at Christ Covenant is appreciated.
Financial Stewardship at Christ Covenant
From the beginning, Christ Covenant has set aside 10% of weekly offerings for Missions and Mercy. Typically, half of that amount (5% of overall offering) is given to Christ-centered ministries outside of Christ Covenant like InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Fredericksburg Area Young Life, Fredericksburg Pregnancy Center, Paul Stefan Home and Christian Brothers Transition Program Jail Ministry. The other portion is held for a variety of emergency needs identified among the family of Christ Covenant.
Next Step Fund
Since we do not expect to stay in our current leased space at 5044 Plank past April 2014, we are setting aside $250 per week from weekly offerings as well as all funds designated to our Next Step Fund. This allowed us to make improvements and furnish our current space on a pay-as-you-go basis as well as begin saving for our "Next Step."

Jail Ministry - Christian Brothers Transition Program
Christ Covenant has a number of people who serve as volunteer Bible Study leaders at the Rappahannock Regional Jail through the chaplain's office. In addition, there has developed locally a ministry for recently release inmates.
Christian Brothers Transition Program - CBTP - began November 1, 2008 with a handful of men who saw the challenge faced by former inmates. They began meeting on Saturday mornings and have seen God grow a fruitful ministry based on a supportive network of 50 people. A Christian Sisters Transition Program was developed March 1, 2008.
Now, in addition to the Saturday morning meeting, men and women meet on Thursday evenings at the Salvation Army Church for Recovery In Christ ( R.I.C). This is a faith based 12 step group that uses the Celebrate Recovery material. Tommy Buckland and Cindy Marcott of CB/CSTP lead that group. Starting this Wednesday 9:00a at Wegman's, a one hour Bible study for those ex-inmates who may work evenings or not yet working.
We are glad to pray and support for this ongoing ministry in our community. For further questions or information, feel free to talk with Pastor Bill, Jack Richards-RRJ chaplain, CBTP volunteer Larry Chittum, and current volunteer Bible Study leaders David Everts and George Dallas.

Rest in Peace, Ragamuffin
From the Pastor's Blog
"I was saddened by the news of Brennan Manning's death this past Friday. He taught me much about the Gospel of Grace through his book Ragamuffin Gospel. I'm glad to honor his memory by sharing this passage, also referred to in Tullian Tchividjian's wonderful memorial:
Put bluntly, the American church today accepts grace in theory but denies it in practice. We say we believe that the fundamental structure of reality is grace, not works-but our lives refute our faith. By and large, the gospel of grace is neither proclaimed, understood, nor lived. Too many Christians are living in a house of fear and not in the house of love."
