Science and Judaism Presentation

Sunday, March 29, 7:00 PM at Temple Beth Ami

Does adversity during fetal development and in early childhood produce vulnerability to serious medical illness in later life?  Emerging evidence is increasingly clear that there is a powerful link, suggesting that vast numbers of people reach adulthood with a largely hidden set of risk factors.

Dr. David Reiss, Professor at Yale Medical School, and Dr. Stephen Suomi, Chief, Laboratory of Comparative Ethology at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, will discuss their international, interdisciplinary collaboration aimed at uncovering the mechanisms that underly the linkage.  The ultimate goal is to develop therapies to weaken or break those connections.

Rabbis George Driesen and Jack Luxemburg will discuss the relationship between this endeavor and the concept of Tikkun Olam.  Sunday evening, March 29th at Temple Beth Ami.
