Covenant Presbyterian Church
Gathering
Update
And Other Covenant News for Youth and Families
This Sunday, August 2

 Jim Mehler preaching

"It's the economy, stupid."  Words of advice delivered to a presidential candidate years ago, but worthy advice any presidential campaign cycle.  But what on earth might "the economy" have to do with Jesus feeding the multitude?  Our text this week is from the Gospel of John, chapter 6, so we should expect some peculiar nuances compared to the more familiar feeding stories from the synoptic gospels. Focus on the questions of the disciples to Jesus, they seem to prompt him to deliver words of advice when it comes to God's Kingdom economy.
This Sunday we will celebrate Holy Communion, itself a feeding of a multitude, or at least all who will be there, with the food which sustains our life of faith.

jim Grace and Peace,
Jim
