This Sunday @ Gathering:
Our 'To Do' List
Jim Mehler preaching
Remember when Labor Day marked the end of summer? Ah, I remember it well, at least for the time being. Labor Day has always held a soft spot in my heart. It is the day when I think back over the summer and remember all those items on my "summer to-do list" which are waiting, yet, to be done. Well, I'll just put them on the list for next summer. Some of those items can wait. No problem they'll be waiting for me next summer. But, some need to be done, well, now. Not urgent, but I better get to them. That brings to mind both Matthew and Romans. Paul in Romans gives us a "to-do" list. Jesus in Matthew reminds us it's not what we say, but what we do which really matters. Got to keep this short, got to get back to my "to-do" list.
It's the last 8:30 courtyard service of the summer. And next Sunday is the Block Party. Yes!
See you Sunday!
Jim

Welcome your new staff, all Covenant members, as approved by session: Shane Spicer, formerly our Assistant for Children's Ministry and Youth, is now Interim Director of Youth Ministry and Assistant for Children's Ministry. Erin Wise is now Director of Children's Ministry. Ed Chung is Interim Director of Young Adult Ministry, in addition to continuing as a youth advisor, and will share in teaching Confirmation Class with Tracy Keenan. Not a new staff person, but someone with a new job title: Katie Kinnison, previously Director of Christian Education, is now Minister of Spiritual Formation and is emphasizing the pastoral role here as she finishes her last year of seminary. We hope to share ministry with her for a long time!
