The Gathering Update
And Other Covenant News for Youth and Families

Sunday's Workout

by Katie Kinnison

Last week we learned a lot about Jacob and his family. This week, we look at one event in his life -- the night he wrestled with God. Or, was it God with whom he wrestled? was it angel? himself? his past? his future? his fear?

Our text is Genesis 32: 22-32. If you have the time, you might want to read Genesis 25: 21-34 and from chapter 27 up to our text for the day. Then you'll have the background and the context for this story. Having this always makes our readings richer. We can make more connections and dig just a little bit deeper into the story.

No worries though. If you aren't able to do that, we'll still have plenty of digging to do.  Digging and wrestling. . . .  We are going to get a workout this week!

Grace and peace, my friends,

Katie
