Greetings!

Exciting things are happening on our campus as we look forward to Sitka Fine Arts Camp 2013. We are on a race to complete phase two of the Allen Hall restoration project with its heating system almost installed and sheetrock being finished on the the new addition. Next stop will be to continue our sheetrocking downstairs and to work on completing the stage. Our construction team and volunteers have been working feverishly to get the work done before Camp starts. At the same time, we are taking advantage of the break in the rain to begin replacing the roof on the Yaw Art Center. Since taking over the campus, one of the weekly jobs of our maintenance staff has been to "bail out the attic" each week and after every hard rain. After some rains our team has had to literally carry buckets of water down the attic steps. We love the Campus and all its little idiosyncrasies but will be happy when bailing attics is no longer one of the regular jobs!

Do you have an hour to volunteer? Come on by our Campus Work Parties! All are welcome to join anytime and you can find us in Allen Hall, 9am-3pm every Saturday.

Do you have a dollar to donate? We need your help.

New Classes

Our Middle School and High School class catalogs are now available! You can browse Middle School here and High School here.

To highlight just a few new additions:

'A Cappella' - Austin Willacy
Learn how to bring any kind of song to life using nothing but your voice. Discover the finer points of singing harmony in a group while learning the basics of good vocal technique. The instructor is a member of The House Jacks, a multi-award winning a cappella rock band.

'Colors of the Sea' and 'Drawing Nature' - Zina Deretsky
These visual arts classes represent an exciting collaboration with the Sitka Sound Science Center. Students will use the resources of the Science Center and the adjacent beach to combine art with scientific inquiry.

'The Sound of Sense and Nonsense' - Margaret Ross
This class will invent dazzling new ways of making sense as we write poems that take risks, ask unanswerable questions, rhyme wildly, tell jokes, fashion monsters, uncover mysteries, and generally have a good time.

'Video Game Music' - Kyle Athayde
In this class, we will examine the music of many of the greatest games of all time and discover what makes a great video game musical score. We will also be using computers to compose music in different styles used in video games.
