Now Announcing: After School Art Session 3

The next session of After School Art classes will begin the week of January 21-25. Classes will include old favorites, such as ceramics, drawing and guitar, as well as new additions of puppetry and sewing. Class schedule and registration details are available here 
 
Upcoming Performance: Alexander Tutunov 

Critically-acclaimed Russian concert pianist Alexander Tutunov will perform in Sitka on Saturday, Jan 26th at 7pm at the Sitka Performing Arts CenterAlexander Tutunov is hailed as "one of the most gifted pianists to emerge from the former Soviet Union. He displays dazzling virtuosity and an impassioned, fiery temperament, all in the tradition of Russian pianism at its best." The concert will feature music by Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin as well as Russian composers Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Tchaikovsky.

Tickets are on sale now at Old Harbor Books. 
$20 Adult; $15 Student/Senior

ALSO: Tutunov Will Hold Audience-Attended Masterclass

Tutunov will hold a masterclass with an audience on Friday, January 25th at 7pm at the Sitka Performing Arts Center. Mr. Tutunov has taught these popular classes in Juneau and audience members do not need previous musical experience or to play the piano to enjoy this class. Four students will perform and receive instruction from Mr. Tutunov in front of the audience. The class will be informal and will focus on piano theory and technique, as well as music history. The cost for performing students is $50; $10 for audience members. Private lessons are also available on January 24, 25, and 26th, cost is on a sliding scale of $25-$50 for a half hour lesson, one hour lessons are also available. Saturday Volunteer Parties
A big thank you to the volunteers who came out last Saturday! We painted windows and hung drywall on the second floor of Allen Hall. We will be holding the second party of the year this Saturday and invite all to join. We will begin at 9am this Saturday at Allen Hall. Lunch will be provided. Call the SFAC office (747-3085) with any questions.
Tap Dance Workshop

Attend a pre-Sitka Jazz Festival workshop and learn from performer and choreographer Katherine Kramer. More information about the instructor can be found here. Cost: $25.
