Greetings!
|
This summer, efforts to restore Allen Hall and other campus buildings continued thanks to the aid of visiting volunteers. As participants of the program Bulldogs on Baranof, students from Yale University, as well as one volunteer from Columbia University and one from Switzerland, stepped out of the libraries and into Alaska. Inspired by other "Bulldogs" programs, in which students from Yale intern in cities across America, a dozen students served as "Restoration Interns," using their summer to immerse themselves in a new community in a very concrete way. Visitors to Sheldon Jackson this summer may have found our volunteers painting the outside of the Yaw Art Center, sanding the interior of Allen Hall or scrambling to lay insulation under the Allen Auditorium stage.
Over the course of a month, this work crew contributed over 1300 volunteer hours, taking the Sheldon Jackson Campus that much further along its road to restoration. In return for their labor, volunteers not only picked up some new hard skills, but also took the opportunity to attend community festivals, hike the local trails, and otherwise experience the many unique wonders of a summer in Sitka. Thank you summer work crew for helping to restore our campus into an even more beautiful place!

Dear Sitka Fine Arts Camp Fans and Supporters,
Thank you for all you do to help this organization thrive and grow. I am finishing up my last week here as Development Director and will return to school in Minnesota. I am grateful to have been part of such an incredible initiative to build community, arts education and economic strength in Sitka.
As I say goodbye, the Sitka Fine Arts Camp is happy to extend a warm welcome to Chelsea Andreozzi as the new Program Administrator. A recent graduate from Yale, Chelsea has personal experience running a volunteer-based non-profit and great enthusiasm to add to this organization.
All the Best!
