Sitka Fine Arts Camp is bringing TED to Sitka! Many of you may be thinking, "Who is Ted?" But TED is not a person. It's a non-profit created around "Ideas Worth Sharing." TED talks started 20 years ago, and have caught on all over the country. We have 11 local and national speakers coming together around the theme of "Creativity Drives Social Change." Roger Schmidt, executive director of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp, and Ed Littlefield, instructor at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp, will be two of the speakers. Joining them are: Daniel Coyle, contributing editor for Outside magazine and author of the New York Times bestseller Lance Armstrong's War.
Robin Kimmerer, teacher and director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment at SUNY-ESF. Ross Perlin, author of Intern Nation: How to Earn Nothing and Learn Little in the Brave New Economy. Richard Nelson, cultural anthropologist, writer and narrator of Encounters, a naturalist radio program on-air since 2004. as well as rap-activist, Aisha Fukushima; entrepreneur, Andrew Lee; author and Professor Jose Carrasco; storyteller, Amanda Murphyao; and composer and performer, Molly Sturges.
