The summer has officially begun: school is out, camp is less than 2 weeks away and Sitka came out to help launch summer festivities on the SJ Campus at Bands, Beer and Barn Raising last Sunday.
Somewhere around 230 people came through Allen that night, many for the first time. People were impressed- with how beautiful the building is, and with how much work has been done. (Even the new bathrooms were running and open for use!)
Baranof Island Brewing Company donated all of the beer, SeaMart donated brats, SlackTide and Belly Meat both donated their musical talents and Harry Race Specialty Services donated printing for volunteer and donor posters. Thank you! I can't think of a better way to celebrate everything this community has come together to accomplish.
The event brought in enough money to completely close-out the Capital Campaign. In 15 months, we were able to raise $500,000 to help save the buildings on this campus and begin to make this a beautiful, vibrant place in our community. All of these contributions came from individuals (families, volunteers, alumni, students, campers, friends) and local businesses. Thank you for showing your commitment to the revitalization of this campus!
