New beginnings have been the theme of the week. Three theater artists from New York came in on Sunday to begin their two- week artists in the schools program at Blatchley, Keet-gooshi Heen and Baranof schools. WT McRae, Amanda Crockett and Jodi Gelbman have all been teachers at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp and we are extremely lucky to have them here this winter. To kick off the two- week program, the three put on an amazing performance of Peter and the Wolf for students on Monday (pictured above.)
This was also the inaugural week for Artspaces after school art classes on the campus. Thank you to Sandy Fontaine for doing so much work to get this together! We are offering 5 classes in drawing, painting and writing for kids K-5th grade. And they look so fun!
Look out for more programs as they unfold-- we like the trend of increasing activity on campus!
Racing the Rain
Pete mobilized a crew to help move new Sheetrock into Allen before Sitka's rain and snow could do any damage. This was an extremely efficient crew-- I could hardly catch them! Thanks for all of the hard work.
