| Greetings! |
We had almost 30 volunteers show up to the last SFAC work party and a number of donations come in over the last week. What a great crowd! Thank you to everyone who contributed.
On Saturday, we had people in and out of each room upstairs: installing insulation, preparing anchors for ballet bars at two different heights (one for the younger dancers and one for the adult dancers!) scraping windows and beginning to build the walls for dance mirrors.
By renovating Allen Auditorium we are expanding new ArtSpace on campus. The building has been a construction site and storage locker. Now, we are transforming the classrooms upstairs into a dance studio for the Sitka Studio of Dance. Imagine using that view of the harbor for your inspiration!
Allen has already become, once again, a gathering place. It is incredible to see so many people have come together on this project. Right now, Allen is a place where people can gather, work hard together, and really see the effects that their work can have.
And after we put all of this work in, Allen will be a place where the community can gather, enjoy a performance and relax. (Won't that be fun?)

From a Sitka Dancer
| Lione Clare is a long time Sitka Dancer and young photographer that came to take pictures of the work being done this weekend. This is the first time she had been in Allen, and it was so fun to hear what she had to say about the future dance studio:
"It's a beautiful building! It will be nice to have windows to look out of and a pretty view. I was little when we moved to the studio we use now, but I still remember how exciting it was. With all the work the volunteers are doing to make this place 'danceable,' I'm sure it will be even more spectacular."
