Sitka Fine Arts Camp Newsletter

We Can Do It, If We all Work Together!

Greetings!
Now is your chance to really get your hands on Allen Auditorium! This Saturday, November 5, we will have a work party starting at 9am.

Thanks to everyone that has done the heavy lifting, Allen is now clear and ready for volunteers to dig in. We have a few walls to take down, a few others to put up, insulation to install, fire-blocking and staging to work on.

If you have experience in construction, we want you. If you don't have experience in construction, we want you. Lunch will be delicious, the company will be pleasant and the work will be fun.

The planning is crucial: Members of the Building Committee, Mike Wild, Pete Weiland, Mat Turner, James Poulson, and Ted Laufenberg and Roger Schmidt have joined forces with volunteer Architect Linda Millard of Millard and Associates Architects, volunteer Building Consultant Ken Castner of Tonsina General Contracting.  They've pulled local electricians and fire system experts into the discussions. Electric, mechanical, heating and fire systems are among top priority.

Let us know how you want to be involved!
Look forward to seeing you Saturday.

To our volunteers and supporters:

"I have been following Sheldon Jackson College for many years as they struggled with sustainability and finally folded. The Sitka Fine Arts Camp took a huge risk and rallied the community to not only save a historic set of buildings, but they had the vision to create an amazing asset for their
community and the state. The number of volunteer hours alone that have been donated in a very small community has got to be some kind of record. This organization deserves financial support."
