Sitka Fine Arts Camp

Greetings!
It's the start of a new phase in the revitalization of the Sheldon Jackson Campus and we find ourselves on the brink of so many exciting new things.

The original architect of the Allen Auditorium remodel project, Linda Millard, made a trip to Sitka last month. We were able to walk with her through Allen, in its current state, and visualize the original plan for the finished building. We traded stories we've heard about the basketball games that used to happen there (can you imagine?)

It was so fun to see Linda's enthusiasm for the project that now faces us. She has been working with Executive Director, Roger Schmidt and our building committee toward a budget and plans for a phase-by-phase remodel to finish the Auditorium. (This is a big undertaking, but we are thrilled about the opportunity!)

If you walk though the Campus, you will notice a little more activity at Rasmuson! Sitka's 3-5 Pre-school moved in last week and we want to give them a warm welcome to SJ. They are brightening the place up (see photo above!)

We can also welcome new renters to the Hillcrest community.  The last house on the Hill is now occupied-- thank you to the dedicated group of people that made Craig Cottage so inviting-- I know it was a lot off work!

As we focus our revitalization effort on Allen, we will need a lot of support. Do you want to volunteer?  Let me know.  Do you want to donate toward the project? Please do! If you have stories about Allen Auditorium, pass them on! Maybe you've known someone playing in one of those basketball games, or you've been to a show there with your family. We think it's a special place, but I want to hear why YOU do.
