Greetings!
You are receiving this email because you have expressed an interest in seeing
Sitka Fine Arts Camp succeed in its quest to breathe new life into the Sheldon
Jackson Campus. Many of you have put in countless hours on the Hames center,
many of you are already up to your waists (or necks) in campus projects, and many
of you are saying, "Wow, this is an amazing opportunity for the community, how
can I help?"
There are many ways:
You could show up on campus at Whitmore any time on Saturdays and check out the
white board in the volunteer gathering room, or grab someone and ask to be put to work. Don't forget to sign in on one of the yellow sign in sheets and log your hours!
Currently there are cleaning and organizing projects, building projects, there is furniture to be moved, and soon there will be lots of prepping and painting to be done. This Saturday Michele Freidman will be organizing the clean up of the ceramics studio
and she could use volunteers any time from 9 to 4. Also this Saturday there
will be a crew working on cleaning and degreasing the cafeteria kitchen
in Sweetland hall. Tracy Turner is in charge of feeding our Saturday volunteers
and she can always use help providing lunch.
As we get more organized there will be jobs to do for those of you who can't help on Saturdays, but have an hour or two during the week. Currently the small alders around the Hames Center and Allen Auditorium need to be pulled, there is garbage to pick up along the creek and back in the trees, and for the very brave, there is always poop patrol - which reminds me, if you are running your dogs on campus, please remember to pick up after them!
As the weather gets nicer, there will be family oriented outside projects:
weeding, gardening and general groundswork.
SAVE THE DATE: March 12th is the official transfer ceremony.
