| Greetings! | |
Some have asked, "Can this project succeed?" In response I'll ask each of you "Do you want to see this project succeed?" What would otherwise become of the future of the campus? The Sitka Fine Arts Camp accepted the opportunity to make the SJ campus an educational, cultural and arts center for the Sitka community and its many visitors. Your donation can make this a reality.
You can see change on the SJ campus- we've accomplished a lot. Excitement is building as June gets closer, and so is a sense of urgency.
In my mind, this urgency is two-fold. The buildings need to be physically stable for the heavy use of camp. As you know, a large part of the volunteer effort has been focused on doing just that. We continue to need volunteers to help make sure that the repairs made are ready for June and the long-term use of future programs.
Secondly, we have to have the financial means to address the needs of the campus as they arise.
Alaska Arts Southeast, as an organization, operated on a budget of $500,000 last year. This year, we will add to our budget the operating and repair costs for 20 buildings and 20 acres on the SJ campus. The purpose of the Capital Campaign 2011 is to give the project of revitalizing the campus the upfront financial stability that it needs to succeed. Consider making a financial contribution, in addition to the support you have already shown.
The Sitka Fine Arts Camp continues to have the dedication and motivation that it will take to successfully bring the SJ campus to life. Staff and board members have put in hundreds of volunteer hours, and made significant financial contributions in addition to the jobs they do everyday.
If you want to see this project succeed, consider showing your support in more than one way, too. A donation to the Capital Campaign will help create a solid foundation for the future of the campus. |
