One of the most incredible things about this campus is how many different groups of people it has reached. The activities this week began to illustrate the true depth of this opportunity.
Judy Lehman has been working with vision and style to restore the North Pacific lounge. Needing a chance to step back from the details of the project, Judy decided to throw a party. She invited a group of former SJ students to North Pacific for Tea break and found herself enthralled in the stories that the women shared from living in that dorm. Hearing these stories helped bring the space, and the work she is doing, to life.
Throughout the week, High School and Middle School students brought life to the grounds and buildings from the other end of the continuum as soon-to-be students on the campus. 30+ students volunteered some of their valuable Spring Break time to clean the flume, garden, sweep, clean and remove old flooring staples from the Cottages on Hillcrest.
Meticulous cleaning in Kellogg made the floors ready for the installation of vinyl flooring in all of the bathroom and kitchen spaces. The largely untouched laundry building was cleaned up, beginning preparations for the future location of Hank Moore's Rock Band classes.
Improving safety is a huge priority in the restoration of these buildings. Thank you to the crew that prepared the pad for the new fire escape in North Pacific!
Every person that gets involved is adding to the great potential of this campus. Let us know what you're interested in! You can join our Saturday work parties, adopt a project to work on during the week, or donate to support this incredible effort.
