What an amazing week! We had a great crew (25+ people!) show up on Saturday to tear apart Kellogg, one campus building with 9 efficiency apartments. Volunteers took out endless amounts of carpet and appliances to prepare the rooms for much-needed new carpet and linoleum.
We had a number of SFAC students getting involved and really getting their hands dirty this week. Sam Woolsey, Spencer and Emma Combs, Keefer Dunn, Abigail Brady and Emma and Niles Wilbur were out working! We love to see you all on the campus where classes will be this summer.
While Kellogg was getting its make-over, a hardy crew got a big start on building a fire-escape staircase for North Pacific. Our darkroom team continued working to incorporate three new sinks into the classrooms in Yaw.
The campus is ready for more big changes this week. Kellogg utilities were separated from Sweetland, making it ready for the job of wiring new water heaters. This Saturday, we will put more polish into Kellogg to prepare it the National Honor Society Students to come in and paint on March 13th. We are also planning to unleash a crew on the Stuart cottages on Hillcrest to begin repair and maintenance there.
With these projects Saturday should be another big day! You are invited to join our volunteer team on Saturday, beginning at 9 am. A delicious lunch will again be provided. There are also many projects for volunteers who would like to work at any time during the week. Someone is usually on site, and you are always welcome to call and let me know what you're interested in!
A huge "Thank you" to all of you that have volunteered and contributed your time. If I left something out, please let me know! And please keep logging your hours, we appreciate every one of them.
