Breathing new life into 19 buildings on the SJ Campus is a big task, but after 3 weeks the staff and volunteer work force continue to prove that the Sitka Fine Arts Camp is up to the task. Nothing is more inspiring than to see people brave the cold for this project!
Last Saturday, we made major strides in organizing and beautifying. Charlie Wilber donated his time and materials to build shelves in the Sweetland storage rooms, while Colleen Dahlquist and her daughters Brittany and Emily worked on linen inventory. Linda and Laura Schmidt put a lot of time into Kellogg and Ian Blair spent a long day ripping out carpet. Thanks to Peter Apathy who put in tons of time, and was part of Saturday's success. The amazing Judy Lehman braved the task of cleaning some pretty gross refrigerators. Not to mention, Connie Kreiss has put in hours in the cold, sorting and stamping books for the camp library. Deirdre took on the job of matching the building locks to keys. Thanks to everyone who made it out to the campus!
This Saturday we will be working on the transformation of Kellogg. We need volunteers that are up for a major makeover party! We plan to take out carpet, replace subfloor, fix, clean and paint. It will be a great, busy day. It should be a lot of fun, so invite as many people as you can. As always, a hot and delicious lunch will be provided.
