Are you interested in playing an essential role in campus restoration? This Saturday, April 11th, SFAC will be hosting a Volunteer Day as part of the push to prepare for summer. All are welcome at any time, and we'll have a variety of tasks for all skill levels. We'll be active on campus from 9AM to 3PM. Lunch will be provided at noon in the Sweetland Hall lobby. Projects slated include painting, tiling, landscaping, tidying up Whitmore Hall from the extensive renovation in the space, and cleaning windows around campus.

If you are interested in joining our volunteer email list, contact Jacob Peterson, SFAC's Volunteer Coordinator, at jacob@fineartscamp.org. Please feel free, as well, to call our office with questions at 747-3085.

Greetings!

Tonight, pianist Nicholas King takes the stage at the Sitka Performing Arts Center. An artist who has graced venues including shopping malls, a nationally syndicated television talk show, and Carnegie Hall, Nicholas has been active in Sitka this week, visiting schools and giving performances in the community. He was interviewed on Raven Radio yesterday morning, and in case you missed the conversation, you can visit this link to stream the entire interview. The interview commences at the 15 minute and 10 second mark, and includes a discussion of Nicholas's non-profit The Art of Giving Back. See the following video for a glimpse of the virtuosic artist in action:

The Young Performers Theater is hard at work on the April 17th and 18th production, William Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor. Zeke Blackwell, YPT Director, has this to say:

"These middle schoolers are incredibly excited about Shakespeare. They are thrilled when they find they can decipher the language."

When asked about a favorite moment in rehearsals, Zeke states:

"There was this really great moment in the initial rehearsal, when we were reading the play through with the kids, out on the lawn, overlooking the ocean. The entire group laughed over a line, organically, and it was great to realize that Shakespeare's words, which are often viewed in an arcane and academic sense, can make middle schoolers laugh."

Thank you for your ongoing support,
