Volunteer Day, Saturday, October 11th, 9am - 3pm

This Saturday, we'll take on more projects around campus, working light landscape maintenance, moving furniture, cleaning, and demolishing a ceiling. A potluck lunch will be served at 12PM - please feel free to sign up here to bring dishes. Come to Whitmore Hall for tasks. If you have further questions, please call our office at 907-747-3085.

The Sitka Fine Arts Camp 2014-2015 Performing Arts Series is a series of performances, musical and dramatic, starting November 21st with the Young Performers Theater production East of the Sun and West of the Moon

Coming to SFAC, in a matter of weeks, is the second session of the After School Arts program of the fall. You can register by calling the Sitka Fine Arts Camp at 907-747-3085. Read on for detailed information.

After School Art Classes: 2nd Fall Session 2014
October 27 - December 12

Beginning Explorations in Art
Instructor: Jennifer Carter
Preschool, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10:00am - 11:00am
Tuesday classes: 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9, Note: No class 11/25
Wednesday classes: 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10, Note: No class 11/26
Location: Yaw Art Center, Room 103

Let your preschool-age child enjoy making art using a variety of fun age-appropriate materials. The class will emphasize art as an experience. Our focus will be on the expressive joy of the process rather than a finished product. This will be a "hands-on" adventure. Play clothes are strongly recommended. Parents must also attend. Families can attend Tuesday or Wednesday or both days. Materials are included.
$60 for the family + tax

Welcome to Theater!
Instructors: Zeke Blackwell & Jessica Menary
Grades K - 1, Wednesdays 2:30pm - 3:30pm

This class is an introduction to theater. Students will make stories with their imagination through experimenting with puppets, animals, costumes, and more! Materials are included.

Wild and Wonderful Watercolors
Instructor: Jennifer Carter
Grades 2 - 3, Thursdays 2:45pm - 3:45pm

Join us as we explore the versatile media of watercolor paint in this fun class. Each week students will experiment with a different watercolor technique, making a variety of expressive and colorful projects. Materials are included.

Open Art Studio with Norm Campbell
Grades 3 - 4, Mondays 2:45 - 3:45pm
10/27, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, 12/8, Note: No class 11/3
Location: Yaw Art Center, Room 101

This class is designed for students to develop their skills through help with individual projects. The teacher will provide
a demonstration each week and students will work on projects of their choosing. Materials are included.
$60 + tax

Introduction to Digital Photography
Instructor: Michael W. Hicks
Grades 4 - 5, Thursdays 2:45pm - 3:45pm
10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11 Note: No class 11/27
Location: Yaw Art Center, Classroom 101 and computer lab 102

Students will learn the basics of light, exposure, optics, composition, camera settings, and how to approach different methods of photography like portraiture, landscape, and documentary. No prior photography experience necessary. 
Students must bring a digital camera.
$60 + tax

Graffiti Changed My Life
Instructor: Marcus Gruber
Grades 6 - 8, Fridays 2:30pm - 3:30pm
11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, Note: No class 10/31, or 11/28
Location: Yaw Art Center, Room 101

Marcus Gruber is a visual artist from Berlin who discovered his interest in art through discovering graffiti. In this class, students will learn about graffiti techniques and the youth culture around the art form. Materials are included.
$60 + tax

Ceramics
Instructor: Wes Holloway
Grades 6 - 8, Fridays 3:30pm - 4:30pm
11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, Note: No class 10/31, or 11/28
Location: Ceramics Building

Learn beginning potter's wheel techniques, and how to use glazes. This class will be a great introduction to the world of clay with a knowledgeable and experienced instructor. Materials are included.
$85 + tax

Music Recording Session
Instructor: Joe Montagna
3rd Grade - Adult, Wednesdays 4:00pm - 5:00pm
10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10, Note: No class 11/26
Location: Rasmuson 101, recording studio

Open for anybody who wants to record themselves singing, playing an instrument, or with a band. Also learn how to engineer a recording session and learn methods to record music in various settings. No experience necessary and all gear is provided including drums, amps, microphones, and recording gear/software.
$60 + tax
