A message from Stan Achey, Stratton Ski School
Trailblazers' Clinic Lead Coach
Trailblazer Clinic Program News
Count em', 1,2,3! That's the number of weeks from Monday the 11th, Veteran's Day, until the clinic program skis off for the new season! I thought I'd give a little "pep talk" to get some adrenalin flowing. Right now in Middletown Springs it's gray, windy and temperature hovering around 36 degrees. Yuk, unless you're thinking skiing. We can't be sure of all of the future but this I do know - the next three weeks will bring huge changes in the weather. I hope you are as excited about the new ski season as I am.
I am especially excited about some new things the clinic will be doing. If you haven't been a part of the clinic program, this would be a good year to drop in. Yew, we heard your call for some special clinic days. So here is what is happening. there will be eight special event days scheduled; two race day clinics, three mogul days and three tree skiing days. For these events, we will be bringing in coaches from the ski school who ahve excellent skills in those particular areas. All but two of the days will be Wednesdays. We will have a mogul day on Friday and a tree day on another Friday to accomodate those who are not here on "hump" day (Geico commerical).
Also I am pleased to announce that Rick Bultman will be back as one of the main coaches. As some of you may remember her was going to be "weekends only" this year, but after some strong arm 'persuasion', Rick has agreed to help us on Mondays and Fridays.
Here is the preliminary schedule of specialty events:. this may change a bit but for now here it is:
12/18/13 race
01/15/14 moguls
01/22/14 race
02/05/14 trees
02/12/14 moguls
02/28/14 trees
03/07/14 moguls
03/12/14 trees
So there you have it. David Hoopes will be again administering the program from the club side along with Jim Andreotta and I will have the Stratton Ski School responsibilities.
