Greetings!
What a summer to celebrate! This month marks 12 years of creating pieces of artwork for Stone 2 Furniture. It feels like has gone by in the blink of an eye. Our adventure of creating, building and growing our business has been quite a ride. We have gone from working in a small shed to finally sub contacting out parts of the process. It has been an adventure with its own set of trying times. Working with your spouse is no easy feat in its self. We have had disagreements on how things should be done, we have made bad decisions and taken losses. Somehow, though, we have managed to stay together through all of it and rise above the trials and tribulations. It is proving to be worth the effort. When we hear back from our customers about how much they enjoy their furniture and sometimes need more, it is most rewarding! This being our 12th year, it is the perfect time to debut our new line of furniture! We have had some growing pains putting this together but its finally happening. YOU are the first to see the new line of furniture... drum roll please.... we have created a faux line of stone and it is incredible! Made from hand poured concrete, this original one-of-a-kind furniture is lighter in weight than the stone and can come in an array of custom colors. Just as beautiful and durable as the stone, the concrete offers an alternative. Stay tuned as we continue to explore all the possibilities that the concrete will offer. Can you pick out the poured set? Booth at the Aspen Fine Art Festival 2015

Here it is, the first of its kind, our signature, handcrafted, artistically made stone. As quarried rock gets harder to find, we don't want to deplete resources. As long as we can, we will offer genuine stone, but we're seeing a trend that shows it is becoming harder and harder to find a good source of stone. We have started our own line of man created stone that will provide more people the opportunity to have stone furniture. This new line of stone will offer more color options and is lighter in weight than stone by approximately 40%! It is more sustainable, too. Working together on creating each piece with loving attention, Jill applies color and Dwayne helps mix and pour the concrete. We collaborated together building the new stone with attention to the texture of the piece. Then debuted them at the Aspen Art Festival and people didn't even notice that it was not Mother Nature made.
We need your help! We've been trying to think of a name for this line of furniture. Here are some of the ideas so far: LuxRox, NuLux Rox, Justborne Stone and Stonenuevo.
Do you have some suggestions? email us here.

This is the very first pour! The colors were deep with great vibrancy. With this process, we are able to control the color and keep natural tones or get wild and crazy with bold color.

The Furniture that Returned Home:
|
In response to the article from the previous month's newsletter:
An open letter to Dwayne and Jill,
I just finished reading the article about the furniture that found its way home. I was very moved by this story because, well I am the dad they were talking about.
It was a rough time of course and the community support we received was beyond belief. Dwayne and Jill stood out in this effort to help us, not only with the furniture they auctioned off for us but also with a beautiful memorial bench which is located at the Livermore Elementary School. Our daughter Sevi used to sit against the wall outside at recess and read where the bench is now. I used to go there often and sit on that bench, usually at night alone or with a sleepy little kid on my lap. Life moved on for us too and we moved to the "other" side of the mountains for a fresh start. Nick turned 15 the other day and tomorrow we will drop him off at the airport to fly to Germany to visit his grandparents, alone for the first time. Some things mean more as time goes on, thanks for everything, from the bottom of my heart.
Chris
