April 2015

Greetings!

April is the month to celebrate Mother Earth! Now is the perfect time to slow down, look around and take in the natural beauty that surrounds us daily, reflecting on the magnificence of our surroundings.

Currently, we are working on a new style of Loveseats. What's new and exciting about these is that they are going to be permanently installed on our client's patio. Additionally, they swivel! Yep, Dwayne has finally made the first Swivel Loveseats! Just imagine how much fun sitting and swiveling with your loved ones would be.

Next month we'll have a video to share with you on these new and exciting comfy Loveseats.

I was hoping to debut a new stone this month. It is taking a little longer than expected, but I can tell you that we're looking at offering Travertine. It's a lighter beige colored stone with brown and comes from the limestone family.

Also new, we have a more efficient and easier way of packing furniture for shipping. We're always looking for new and better ways to do things- see more info below.

Other business news, we have brought on a fabrication shop to help with building the frames. Currently, Dwayne does all the welding but it has been a lot of work for one person. We have come to a point where we have to get help in this area. If all goes well we should have production up and less wait time. Dwayne will still have to do welding on every piece, since all rocks are different sizes. He will continue putting on the arms and fitting the stones ensuring perfection with every piece.

Let It Rain:

   Furniture in Rain
April is the month of showers and many areas of the country are getting their fair share of rain. Here in Colorado, we are still getting wet heavy snow showers. Whatever form your moisture comes in, you can rest easy knowing that your Stone Furniture will be just fine. Indeed, a nice shower once in a while is refreshing and will rinse your furniture off, getting it ready for the next sunny day when you will be able to comfortably enjoy your furniture.

When purchasing most outdoor furniture, you have to consider the climate that you live in. The type of furniture you chose could depend on if you are in hot/dry climate or cold/damp climate. Those who live near a beach have to be concerned not only about the weather but also about the affect salt and sand will have on their furniture. Often there is maintenance that will need to be performed and storage will be needed for some types of furniture. Some furniture requires the use of cushions, which present a myriad of issues such as fading and rotting. Cushions also will either need to be replaced each year or stored to be protected from the elements. None of this is an issue with Stone Furniture. The climate you live in doesn't impact Stone Furniture. It thrives in any type of weather and will only look better with time  Once you set up your furniture you simply leave it where it is and enjoy year around.

Stone 2 Furniture can resist even the wettest of weather. It won't rust, rot or splinter. Stone thrives in any type of weather, rain, sleet or snow. Metal outdoor furniture offers particular challenges. You have to treat metal furniture with extra care because chips and scrapes on the paint leaving it vulnerable to rust. If you want to protect your metal furniture from the weather, you will need to store it. This means that it will be taking up space somewhere, and won't be available for use once the rain stops. If storage is a challenge, you will want to cover your metal furniture with a durable furniture cover adding extra expense and a need to store the covers. Your Stone Furniture will rejoice in the showers and look beautiful once the rain has stopped. Since it can be left out all year long, once the showers are over you can sit in your Stone Furniture and admire the rainbow.

Wood furniture can be easily damaged in harsh weather. Wood furniture will split, rot, and warp in a wet climate. Some outdoor furniture experts recommend painting, staining or sealing your wood furniture to protect it. This creates another issue as all of those solutions require maintenance as the protective coating will fade, chip, and or peel. To protect your wood furniture, it is suggested that it be stored or covered during harsh weather. Some experts even suggest placing outdoor wood furniture where it will not be directly exposed to harsh weather. Stone Furniture, however, can be set where it will best enhance the surroundings, it will not need to be stored or covered and will actually look better with age. Once you set your furniture you can forget about it and just enjoy the pleasure it will provide for years to come. You won't be spending time caring for your furniture, you won't have to drag it in and out of storage and you won't have to move it around to find a place where it will be our of harm's way. This means you save time, money and energy and will be able to enjoy your outdoor setting more.

Shipping:

Check out the new look of how Stone 2 Furniture products are shipped!
To make the process easier, we use a couple boards to secure the piece
on the pallet, then heat -shrink wrap it. That way you just cut the wrap and use a
crowbar to get the base boards off. It uses less lumber and creates less waste.
