Welcome friends! What a summer it has been. Even though we didn't attend as many shows as we normally would, we sure stayed busy, which is a great thing and makes us very happy. We had a mix of return customers adding to their collections, along with new clients.
Over the weekend, we showed at the Evergreen Fine Art Festival. It was a fun show in the mountains just outside of Denver. The show turned out to be a really good. Also, the first weekend of September we will be in Midland, Texas. We have never done this art show, but have heard positive things about it.
Dwayne and I have decided to skip our retail show in Chicago this year. We hope to put it on the list for next September.
This winter, we might even get to test the waters out in Florida. Yes! We hope to add Florida to our list of shows. It's a long way from home, but we're very limited on the states that we can exhibit in during the winter months. So far on list, we may possibly have Sarasota, Naples, Coconut Point and a few others that we're still investigating.

Dangerous and Deadly Patio Furniture:
|
It may sound like the title of a low rent B movie with no plot and lots of fake gore; however, patio furniture can be dangerous and even deadly when it is placed on the 14th floor of a high-rise building. High-rise living is a great way of life for many people. It's convenient, fun and you get awesome panoramic views of the city. While these features are appealing, there are things to think about when placing patio furniture onto the balcony of your condo.
One of the concerns is the close quarters you will find yourself in when living in a high-rise. There will be people on both sides of you and below you. That is why condominium complexes have rules that say what you can and cannot do. Many restrict the use of patio furniture, or at the very least have guidelines of what you can and cannot place on your patio. And keep in mind that if your patio furniture should blow off your patio, you will be responsible for any damage that it does. The force at which the wind will be on the 14th floor is very different than at street level. If your patio furniture should become airborne, the force with which it would hit the ground below could be deadly. Areas that have high-rises also have a large amount of people, cars, pools and other buildings around.
We have heard stories from clients telling us about their neighbor's glass table top being lifted in the wind and falling to the ground, where it shattered into hundreds of pieces. Another client told us a story about her neighbor's table being picked up and falling onto the railroad tracks right here in Denver. There are probably hundreds of stories similar to these all over the country. Fortunately, in the case of these two stories, no one was injured or killed. The truth of the matter is that most conventional outdoor furniture available on the market will blow off a balcony. None of the big box stores sell furniture that can't be moved in the right conditions.
We have sold to several clients that live in high rise condominiums because they were looking for furniture that was heavy enough so that they wouldn't have to worry about it taking flight. The photo featured here was taken in Dallas, Texas at the Ritz Carlton. Our Stone furniture added a touch of elegance to the outdoor patio and allowed our clients to rest easy knowing they would not have to worry about any liability with their furniture ending up somewhere it didn't belong.
There are many reasons to purchase stone furniture. It is durable, it won't rust or rot and maintenance is as easy as wiping it down with a wet cloth. Additionally, stone furniture is the only patio furniture on the market that will not blow away. If it does, you have bigger problems than your patio furniture! It's time to get out of town.
