Summer is in full swing! Here in Colorado, the wildflowers are everywhere and things are hot in the Rockies! This is our favorite time of the year, in the "Rock Chair" business. Dwayne just got back from a successful show in Aspen. This year he went alone. The girls and I are in Arizona, where it's crazy hot! We're taking care of his mother after major back surgery. She is the inspiration that originally fueled his passion towards stone. If you don't already know, his mother did a lot of mason work throughout their home during his childhood. She mixed bags of concrete and stacked moss rock to build beautiful stone creations. His mother rocked everything from the fireplace, the pool, to the walls in the yard. She also taught her friends how to do mason work. Unlike most wives, when her husband would call home, she asked him to get her a bag of concrete, rather than a carton of milk. Fast forward to today, she is 81 years old and had 2 fractures in her back from 30 to 40 years ago. We're glad to report that the surgery to repair her back went well. She is home resting, but has a long road of recovery ahead. While in Arizona, we stopped by the Goldenstein Fine Art Gallery, to visit the horse sculptures that Dwayne has on display. To our wonder, we saw there was a bird's nest in Chisel's mouth! It appears that a little bird has been traveling through the holes that form her nose to build a nest in her mouth. |
