"Saddleback is perfectly positioned for a long run of Spring Skiing," according to Saddleback General Manager, Chris Farmer, "Our snowmakers braved the extreme elements in January to put down a deep base of man-made snow that will have us skiing through Easter. Over four feet of snow in March was a real gift."
"Saddleback made 38% more snow this year than last year. In places on the mountain, the snow is over six feet deep," said Operations Manager Jim Quimby. "Our snow always lasts longer because of our higher elevation."
Saddleback has Spring Skiing events scheduled through Easter and will be rolling the barbecues onto the sun decks at the Base Lodge and Kennebago Station Yurt. The mountain will continue to operate weekends through Easter, April 20th.
April events include: $29 Maine Day on Sunday April 6th; Throwback Weekend April 12 & 13 with the Bronco Buster Challenge 2.0 on Saturday where one run down Tight Line, (formerly Bronco Buster) without stopping or falling wins you an early season day pass, and the Space Case Race 2.0 on Sunday. The Space Case Race is a costumed recreational GS race. Also on Sunday the 13th, Olympic Skier Julie Parisien will host PEAK (Promoting Education and Activity for Kids) Pass Day. Saddleback will recognize all the students who achieved academic excellence and became eligible for the Saddleback PEAK Pass. One pass holder will win a pair of Salomon Rocker 2 Jr. skis.
On Easter Sunday, Saddleback will host an Easter Service with the Reverend Peter Panagore at 10am followed by an appearance of the Easter Bunny and the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Throughout the day on Easter, skiers and riders can search for the Golden Egg to win a 2014-15 Saddleback Season Pass.
SKI Magazine recently announced that "happy skiers" say Saddleback is the Best Ski Resort in the East.
