PEAK TEACHER CONTEST
Win your teacher a PEAK Pass to Saddleback!
Each year, Saddleback has recognized Honor Students with the PEAK Pass Program (Promoting Education and Activity for Kids). Any student in grades K-12 who achieves Honor Student status through their school is eligible to purchase a Saddleback PEAK Pass for just $149.This year we are offering an opportunity for students to reward a teacher who has contributed to their academic success with a Saddleback PEAK Pass.
Thousands of students have worked hard to achieve Honor Student status and somewhere along the way a teacher helped. Tell us, in 200 words or less, why you think your teacher deserves a Saddleback Season Pass. Submit your written essay by email to peakessay@saddlebackmaine.com or mail it to Saddleback Maine, PO Box 490, Rangeley ME 04970.
Your essay must be received by October 26th. All essays will be reviewed by the Saddleback staff and five finalists will be chosen. The five selected essays will be published online on the Saddleback website, www.saddlebackmaine.com. The public will vote for the essay of their choice. Voting will take place from November 1 through 16. On November 29th, the winner will be announced. The author of the winning essay will receive a Saddleback Gift Card and the teacher featured in the essay will be given a Saddleback PEAK Pass for the 2013-14 Season.
TRAIL RUN AT FALL FESTIVAL
Saddleback is partnering with Rangeley Health and Wellness to offer a TRAIL RUN on Sunday, September 22, 2013, 9:30 AM, as part of Saddleback's Fall Festival. This challenging 4 mile run starts and finishes at the Saddleback Base Lodge with over 4,000 feet of vertical change. Age classes are Male and Female 18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over. Pre Registration fee is $20. ($25.00 the day of the race). Pre-register online here. After your run enjoy food, drink and live music on the deck! Proceeds from the race will help support the Rangeley Health & Wellness Partnership.

During Saddleback's Fall Festival on Sunday, September 22nd, the Rangeley Ski Scholarship Fund will hold its first SKI SWAP. There are still two opportunities to drop off your used gear in good repair. All winter gear items are welcome; click here for complete info. RSSF supports the region's young people with scholarships for programs, instruction and equipment. This is a win-win opportunity for you to recycle your used gear, find some great bargains for you and your family, AND benefit a great local organization!

FOLIAGE WILL PEAK IN THE COMING WEEK

NEW HIKING TRAIL LOOP STARTS AT THE BASE LODGE
These gorgeous fall days are perfect for hiking, and thanks to the High Peaks Alliance there's a new hiking loop starting at the base lodge. You'll hike to the summit of Saddleback along the Wheeler, Gray Ghost and Tricolor trails, then SW on the Appalachian Trail, NW along ITS 84/89, and then NE back to the base lodge along the Fly Rod Crosby Trail. It's a challenging 6.1 mile hike; plan on 5-6 hours to complete. Download the map here.
