Rangeley Lakes Region Historical Society Presents WILLIAM WEGMAN TONIGHT! William Wegman, the internationally renowned photographer, will be the Historical Society's guest speaker on August 14th at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School at 7 PM. Wegman is best known for creating series of compositions involving dogs, primarily his own Weimaraners, in various costumes and poses. Wegman was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, received a B.F.A. in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, and currently lives in New York and Maine where he continues to make videos, to take photographs and to make drawings and paintings.
BLUEBERRY FEST THURSDAY, AUG 15
Rangeley's Annual Blueberry Festival features all sorts of blueberry jams, muffins and pies, along with locally produced gifts, arts and crafts. Children's activities include a FROG JUMPING contest! Runs from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Lakeside Park. Presented by the Boosters Club.

RANGELEY OUTDOOR ADVENTURE RUN
Rangeley Health and Wellness is sponsoring the R.O.A.R. - a 5K and 10K walk/run on Saturday, August 24 at 9:30 AM. A delicious classic BBQ, hosted by the Saddleback Team, will be available for all at the conclusion of the Run at the Wellness Center. There will also be a Mini-ROAR for children at 9 AM. Prizes, T-shirts, Day care. The ROAR starts at 9:30am; register on Race Day from 7:45-9:15 AM at the Wellness Center: 25 Dallas Hill Rd, or Pre-Register here.
MOOSE TOURS HAVING SUCCESS
We've been consistently spotting moose! Every Monday and Thursday through Aug 29 we rev up the Pickle Bus and enjoy a leisurely ride down "moose alley" (Route 16). NEW HIKING TRAIL LOOP STARTS AT BASE LODGE
It's been a beautiful summer for hiking, and thanks to the High Peaks Alliance there's a new hiking loop starting at the base lodge that combines hiking SE to the summit of Saddleback Mountain along the Wheeler, Gray Ghost and Tricolor trails, then SW on the Appalachian Trail, NW along ITS 84/89, and then NE back to the base lodge along the Fly Rod Crosby Trail. It's a challenging 6.1 mile hike; plan on 5-6 hours to complete. Download the map here.
