I'm Going Flying!
Watch how the carrier gets vertical support and I learned to feel safe in the carrier, view short video...

The pet carrier for small dogs or cats by Southwest Airline has a generous space for under the seat stowage.
One disadvantage to the light weight design is that it lacks vertical support. It looks like an accordion that cannot hold the 8 inch height it claims to have.
The under the seat measurements for aisle, middle and window seats all accommodate the carrier. The middle seat has five more inches in width than the other seats allowing the passenger foot room. The cost for a dog or cat to be under the seat is rather high at $95. Only 6 animals are allowed on each flight. Reservations need to be made in advance. Payment for the flight is made during check in at the airport. The rules and regulation web page for Southwest Airlines sells the in-cabin carrier for $48 plus tax and shipping. It can also be purchased at the airport. They do not state that they require any travel certificate, proof of vaccinations or licenses. One odd restriction states, "Southwest Airlines will not accept pet remains in the cabin of the aircraft." Remains as if they die or eliminate? Maybe it's like good camping, leave no trace.

The canine tail wag communicates their feelings to other dogs.
The direction that a tail wags can elicit avoidance or approach responses from other dogs.
Dogs with more of a wag to the left of their body provoked anxiety in the observer. Dogs with a stressed rightward movement of the tail were seen as more approachable by another dog.
The National Geographic has a summary of the findings
|
The tail wag can tell humans what a dog may be thinking as well.
If a dog is wagging more to their left side, approach slowly and with caution.
If more of a wag to the right side of the body, the dog is probably happy to see you and approachable.

It does offers good structure, not collapsing on the head of the passenger inside.
