WBZ-TV Boston Beach Contest! York Beach came in second place! Two weeks ago I wrote in and voted for Long Sands and Short Sands Beaches. Many others must have voted too! Last week I was contacted by Ken Tucci from WBZ notifying me that York Beach had been voted #2 out of 5 best beaches in New England. I assisted Ken with contacting York Parks and Rec and the Ellis Park Trustees so that WBZ could put together the story. I also sent several pictures to WBZ of York Beach from years past from a collection of very old post cards that are at the chamber of commerce for anyone to see whenever they would like to.

Congratulations York Beach!

2013 Regional Tourism Impact Estimate

From Maine DOT:

The Long-Range Transportation Needs Assessment, with a proposed horizon year of 2040, will be the unifying policy guide that establishes the goals, objectives, and the strategies of the "family" of multimodal plans that address the core challenges and opportunities facing Maine in the next 20+ years.

During the months of June and July 2014, MaineDOT is conducting this survey to collect citizen input, usage and comments regarding the transportation system in the State of Maine.  This survey will serve as the first public involvement activity in the identification and assessment

of Maine's transportation needs.

Please take the survey below:

We are assisting in an important study that the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute are conducting with Deloitte to update the widely-quoted 600,000 open jobs in manufacturing figure and identify the true scale of manufacturing's workforce challenge between now and 2020.

To help us with this study, please take a few minutes to complete a survey found at the following link:

http://www.deloitte.com/skillsgap

The 600,000 open jobs figure changed the direction of manufacturing education in the U.S. and impacted policy and funding decisions across the federal and state governments.  This new report will hopefully continue the momentum in our favor.

Don't miss the 2014 New England Regional SBIR/STTR Summer Session, a financing event for entrepreneurs and small businesses to meet with officials from federal funding agencies representing the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) programs. Thursday, July 17, 2014.
